Description

Batavia Stad was the first factory outlet centre in the Netherlands. Together with nearby museums and the Bataviawerf open air museum, the factory outlet is a major tourist draw for the city of Lelystad. A visit to Batavia Stad is a day out in a colourful, safe and enclosed world designed to feel like a trading post from the Golden Age. More than 100 well-known brands, plus terraces, restaurants, museums and a visit to the reconstructed VOC ship Batavia in the shipyard provides hours of fun and pleasure. In its first year, Batavia Stad welcomed 2.5 million visitors and visitor numbers have continued to increase in the years since its opening. The factory outlet also created 500 new jobs. The International Council of Shopping Centers awarded Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet the title best shopping centre in Europe in the Specialized Retail category. The jury report said: “A strongly brand-driven outlet that provides visitors with a very pleasurable shopping experience.” ICSC – Best shopping centre in the Specialized Retail category.
NRW – Honourable mention for the innovative concept and the shopping centre marketing.
