In good mutual cooperation, the municipalities of The Hague, Pijnacker-Nootdorp and Rijswijk have built a high-quality and pleasant living area; the Ypenburg new development district.
Space, green areas, safety and an excellent supply of facilities are the draws for residents. Foruminvest, together with Rabo Vastgoed (Rabo Real Estate Group), developed the Ypenburg district’s center comprising 11.500 m2 of retail space, 475 apartments and 950 parking places.
The shopping center comprises 42 shops, including two supermarkets, a comprehensive offer of fresh food, travel agencies, a temporary employment agency, a chemist’s and perfumery, a toyshop, an optometrist, banks, fashion shops and restaurants. In addition, the center contains various social facilities, such as a library, a day-care center, a medical center, a police station and a sports hall. All of these facilities can easily be reached by car via the A4, A12 and A13 motorways. The center has access to a wide range of public transportation, as a result of which Ypenburg has a good connection with all surrounding towns.
The large scale of the building blocks and the towers contrast with the shopping center’s seclusion. Particular attention was paid to the illumination plan, the advertising elements and the layout of the public space; all special elements that transform the shopping center into a lively and protected meeting place.
